Dr. Samuel D. Greenlee, DDS grew up in Vandergrift, a small town northeast of Pittsburgh. He received his undergraduate degree from Bucknell University and his dental degree from Temple University in 1977. He and Dr. Schmoyer were in the same class! After dental school he served for three years in the Navy Dental Corp at Camp Lejeune and then transitioned into private practice in Chesapeake, Virginia. In 1981 he partnered with Dr. Schmoyer to form Penn’s Commons Dental Group.
Dr. Sam’s wife, Jan, is on the faculty of the School of Dental Hygiene at Harcum College. They have two daughters, Lauren and Emily. Lauren and her husband Dan live in Arkansas, where Lauren is an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas. Emily is a nurse at Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE. She and her husband Dean have a son Wyatt and two daughters, Charlotte and Reese.
Dr. Sam is an avid water sports enthusiast, especially waterskiing in the slalom course. He has been a life-long runner, but in recent years has pursued triathlons. WW II history is a passion for him as a result of his father’s and father-in-law’s service in the Pacific theater. Dr. Sam enjoys dentistry for its relationships with the people he serves.
