JAMES G. SCHMOYER, DDS

For me, the choice of dentistry as a career has led to a lifetime of so many rewarding experiences. Becoming a dentist offered me the opportunity to embrace technology, to build meaningful relationships with my staff and patients and to contribute to the community where I grew up.

As I continue to expand my skills and expertise I find that dentistry serves as an outlet for my artistic sensibilities.  I enjoy restoring things to their original beauty and function, including my 1954 TR2.  I also enjoy designing and building projects of form, function and durability. This includes my current home and my hand built bamboo fly rods.

The field of dentistry, restoring mouths, creating beautiful smiles and helping people realize their optimal dental health is a perfect venue for my interests and talents.

I enjoy spending my free time running, fishing and playing guitar with my band The Porch Dogs.

I was raised in Berks County.  I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from the Pennsylvania State University.  After three years of work and further post graduate education I attended Temple University School of Dentistry graduating with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) degree.  Together with Dr. Greenlee I established Penn’s Commons Dental Group, Ltd. with the ambition to dedicate my skills to provide our patients with the highest quality care available.

I live with my wife Stephanie who was a high school guidance counselor in Berks County.  Our son Zac is a graduate of Penn State and lives in the D.C. area. He works as a private contractor in the I.T. field.   Our daughter Katie is a University of Delaware graduate and teaches 7th grade reading and writing.  She lives with her husband Cory and their sons Kellen and Micah in Wyoming.
